Washington State Annual Report Filing Changes

The Washington State Business Licensing Services (BLS) and Secretary of State have advised that, effective January 1, 2018, primary administration of business corporation and LLC Annual Reports is being transferred from the BLS to the Secretary of State.  Reporting electronically will still be permissible with either agency.  However, filing with the BLS will still incur an additional $11 handling fee while filing with the Secretary of State will not.  Paper filings will have to be filed with the Secretary of State after the effective date.

After the effective date, the Secretary of State will send notifications to file to entities’ registered agents approximately 60 days in advance of the due date.  The due date will remain unchanged: on or before the last day of the entity’s anniversary date of formation or registration in the state.
